Request for Simran

"Ajapa Jap Hai.."

When a Jigyasu tries to understand this concept, it is natural that he/she will ask "If Jap (Simran) is Ajapa (unuttured/without physical conciousness), then what is that, which I recite everyday with my Rasna (tounge)" If it be understood in the light of Gurbani, it would be clear that when we recite "Waheguru" with our Rasna (tounge) it is actually "Request for Simran"
It's as if we are trying to say "He Waheguru! Sanu Naam De"

The following verses from Shri Guru Granth Sahib jee would make it clear :

"Kabir Keso Keso Kukiye, Na Soyiye Asaar, Raat Divas Ke Kookne Kabhu Te Sune Pukaar"
Kabir jee says that he keeps on reciting the Lords Name (day and night), in the hope that the Lord will listen to his request someday !

"Sheikh Faride Kher Dije Bandagi"
Farid jee too requests Khuda to give him Bandagi/His Simran.

"Tu Chit Aave Teri Meya, Simrat Naam Sagal Rog Kheya."
Guru Arjun Dev Ji explains that His thought/His rememberance is God's gift to us. With remembering His Name, all Rog (diseases) are destroyed.
To this, I remembered something very interesting. Someone asked a Sadhu "You have been doing Simran for so long. What have you got in return? What did you achieve?" The Sadhu replied "Is there a bigger gift than God's remembrance, that I could have achieved?"

As our recitation of His name is a "Request" and we have got limited Swas/time, I think it is a wise decision to keep Requesting every minute-every second. Maybe, someday this Request (and our desire for Naam) becomes so strong/intense that Waheguru blesses us with Ajapa awastha, thus we never forget Him !

Bhulan Chukan Di Khima,

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa,
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh !
