Sael Pathar Meh Jant Upaye Ta Ka Rijak Aage Kar Dharia

A few days ago, National Geographic Channel was showing the story of a mother ant, who was struggling to find food for her little ones, who had all but starved to death. The mother ant valiantly carried a fruit fallen from a tree to her nest. But, another ant intercepted her, fought with her to steal away her fruit. The mother ant, apparently quite dejected, headed towards her nest, where her hungry kids would have been waiting. At this moment, I felt sad for the insect, who had worked so hard to carry the fruit towards her nest. I prayed to God, that please help her poor kids, who would die without food. The very next moment, they showed the young ants (troubled by hunger) come out of their nest and they left in search of food themselves. Luckily, they reached the thief ant's nest, where the same fruit was waiting for them. They ate the fruit to fulfill their hunger.

This incident reminded me of the following lines from Gurbani :

"Kahe Re Man Chitweh Udham Ja Aahar Har Jio Dharia
Sael Pathar Meh Jant Upaye Ta Ka Rijak Aage Kar Dharia"

After the mother ant lost the battle for the fruit (which seemed to be the only chance of survival of her kids) any normal human would have thought that her kids would no longer survive. But see how Akaal Purakh helped the young ants to find their Rijak (food).

Similarly, we humans, sometimes think that we know what is best for us, and that we should get what we think is right for us. But most of the times, it is not what Waheguru has planned for us. The reason why we feel sad or disappointed, arises out of the difference in opinion between us and Waheguru.

For example, nobody wants to die a painful death. Nobody wants suffering at time of leaving one's body. Then, why did Guru Arjun Dev Ji (despite being severely tortured by the Mughals) say "Tera Keeya Meetha Laage". That was because, Guru Sahib wanted to teach us that the way to achieve Be-Gum-Pura (a place where there is no sadness) is to keep Waheguru's will ahead of our will, or in other words keep Gurmat ahead of Manmat. Guru Arjun Dev Ji accepted Waheguru's will at all times with a smile, even if it meant extreme sufferings to his body.

Sometimes in life, Waheguru makes us wait for things we want desperately. This
is probably because, while waiting, our anxiousness/excitement associated with that wish is finished, so that, when we finally get it, we are much more relaxed (Sehaj).

Bhulan Chukan Di Khima,

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa,
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh !
