How to Win Over Krodh (Anger) : Some Examples

If we understand the moral of these two short stories, I think we will be better equipped to fight Krodh (Anger) :

1) Once an angry man came to a saint and started abusing him with the worst of his vocabulary. The saint kept listening, and when the man stopped, the saint said ""May God Bless You"" The onlookers, taken aback by the saint's reaction asked him ""The man is abusing you for so long, you didn't even reply to his comments and you are still blessing him"" To which the saint said ""He called me names, but I never took them. Just like yesterday, some people came to give me sweets. I didn't want them, so I refused to take. Similarly, today he gave me a piece of his mind, I didn't want it, so I refused to take! And why I blessed him, that is my nature to ask for the good of any passerby, so I did, what's so special in that!""

2) This short story is from Mahabharata, and I think we can learn a lot from it :

The Pandavas and Kauravas, when young used to study in the same Gurukul under the supervision of Dronacharya. Dronacharya was once teaching them a lesson ""Anger is bad for health"" He asked all students to repeat after him. Everyone did. Next day, he asked everyone to repeat the lesson learnt yesterday. All the students did, except Yudhistir, the eldest Pandav. When asked why he did not repeat the lesson, Yudhishtir said ""I forgot yesterday's lesson"" Dronacharya taught the lesson to him again ""Anger is bad for health"" This went on for a few days, finally Dronacharya's temper reached its height and he slapped Yudhishtir. To which Yudhistir said ""Now I remember the lesson"" Dronacharya, apparently surprised, asked what was wrong with him. Yudhistir replied ""I believe in education, which I can use in my life. For so many days you have been teaching us 'Anger is bad for
health'. But today when you slapped me out of ANGER, my instant reaction should have been to feel angry at you, which I didn't. That is why, I said, Now I remember the lesson and wont forget it for the rest of my life""

You would have heard so many people say ""Sanu Gussa Bahut Aanda Hai!"" Did anyone say ""Mein Krodhi Ha"" The problem is that we don't realize that it is not someone else who is driving our emotions, but the much hyped Krodh is merrily sitting right inside us. Shabad Guru (Gyan) helps us control this Vikaar, so that we can live a peaceful life.

""Satgur Sabad Krodh Jalave""
